2nd Bulletin of
The 6th International workshop of Applied Antineutrino Physics
25/May/2010
August, 3-5, 2010 @Aoba-Kinen-Kaikan, Tohoku University, Sendai Japan
(http://www.awa.tohoku.ac.jp/aap2010/).

The online registration has started. The deadline of the registration is July 3rd. Other useful information has been also uploaded to the conference web site. Since a big summer festival of the whole Sendai city will take place just after the workshop, it is recommended to register quickly and secure your hotel.

The Applied Anti-Neutrino Physics workshops (2009 Angra/Brazil, 2007 Paris, 2006 California, 2005&2004 Hawaii) have focused on discussions of applications of neutrinos for non-proliferation, reactor studies, geophysics and other areas. As a result of these workshops, several small reactor antineutrino detectors have been and are being realized worldwide, in order to demonstrate the feasibility and practicality of reactor monitoring using antineutrinos. These activities also attracted the attention of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). In 2006, and again in 2008, IAEA convened worldwide Experts Meetings on Antineutrino Detection for Safeguards Applications in the IAEA Headquarters in Vienna. Concerning geophysical studies, two geo-antineutrino measurements have been published in the last five years, by the KamLAND and Borexino collaborations.
The 6th workshop, AAP2010, will be held on 3-5, August, 2010 at Aoba- Kinen- Kaikan, Tohoku University in Sendai, Japan. Sendai-city, which is located 300km north of Tokyo (2 hours by Shinkansen train), is one of the most popular tourist areas as well as advanced academic cities in Japan. There will be famous summer festival (called Tanabata Matsuri) just after the workshop (6-8, August). In academic sector, for example, Tohoku University hosts the KamLAND experiment. One-day round trip tour to J-Parc brand new accelerator complex and Joyo fast experimental reactor is also planned. The registration has started in 25th of May, 2010 at the conference web page. The deadline is just one month before the conference; July 3rd.

The topics to be discussed in the workshop are;
- Safeguards applications
- Nuclear reactor operation/fuel non destructive inspection
- Neutrino detection of nuclear explosions
- Geoneutrino application of geophysics and geochemistry.
- New technologies and alternative designs for antineutrino detection.
