Hiroko Watanabe(Assistant Professor) won the "Morita Scientific Research Encouragement Prize" for her achievement of "Understanding the Earth’s heat production by geoneutrino observation".

The Morita Scientific Research Encouragement Prize was established in 1998 from the funds bequeathed by a chemical educator, the late Ms. Sumiko Morita. This prize encourages the researches by women scientists specialising in the natural sciences and aims to develop human resources who will contribute to the development of science. The female scientists under 40 years of age who have achieved outstanding research results and are expected to contribute to the development of science are the intended for this prize.
