On Friday 7 April, the winners of the 2023 『Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology』 were announced.

The Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology awards the prizes with the aim of motivating those involved in science and technology and contributing to raising the standards of science and technology in Japan. This time, Assistant Professor Hiroko Watanabe of RCNS was awarded "The Young Scientists’ Award" by the research achievement "Investigation of Earth's Heat Production with Geoneutrino Observation". The awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday 19 April.
